فأنا شرقية أهوى الخدور

Being Oriental I am fond of veils

وأعشق حُمرة الحِناء في يدي

I love the Henna on my hands & heels

والكحلُ يرفل في مَجَرّات العيون

And the Kuhl orbiting the galaxies in my eyes

فأنا .. لا أنطق بسوء القولِ

I don't gossip scandals

ولا بلغة العابثاتِ

Neither do I use frivolous speech

ولا أتباهى بكشف الجسد

I don't brag about exposing the flesh

ولا بإبداء ... النحور

Neither about displaying the bosoms

فأنا يا سيدي شرقية...

For I am, Sir, from the Orient

أهوى الشموخ بحشمتي

I value my decency with pride

وهكذا أعشق نفسي أن تكون

That's the way I love to be

إن كنتَ تهوى الانعتاق من زمني

If you fancy freeing yourself of my eon

فارحل إلى حيث تشاء

Wherever you wish you may begone

ولمن تشاء ....

فسر الجمال في قلب المحار

For beauty's secrets inside the Oyster dwell

وهنا قوارير الحُب العتيق

And yonder ancient devoted females excel

تحضنها العين وتخفيها الجفون

Cuddled by the eyes and hidden inside the eyelids

حضارة الأعداء لا تناسب عِفتي

Enemy civilization with my chasteness does not fit

فأبعدني عنها وعن شرور رَكبها

Spare me the trouble of riding its vices

وقل ما شئت في جلباب كرامتي

Say what you want about my dignity gown,0

وفي النقابِ .....

About the full veil

وفي تعابير وجهي البسيطة ..

And the simple expressions when I frown

قل ما تريد .. لأنني

شرقية عربية تأبى السفور

An Arab Oriental refusing to unveil

وتقبض لهيب الجمر بكفها

gripping the ember flame in my hand

وتنزع غربتها من ألم المُجون

Snatching my alienation from insolence pain

قل ما تريد سيدي ...

Say, sir, what you want ...0

لكنك ستعرف لاحقا

But soon you'll realize

أن السماء لعفتي دوما تثور

The sky always rebels for my chasteness

وأن الكون سوف ينير بشمعتي

My candle will illuminate the universe

وتعلو بحصن كرامتي كل الحصون

My dignity citadel all strongholds maintains

ألم أقل لكَ منذ البداية

Didn't I tell you right from the beginning

أنني شرقية أهوى الخدور

I am Oriental who love the veils

وأعشق حمرة الحناء في يدي

Adoring the Henna on my hands and heels

والكحل يزهو ....
